Bougainvillea One Head  blooms come in purple, red, orange, white, pink and yellow. But those blooms actually aren’t blooms at all. The paper-like structures are a modified leaf called a bract that hides bougainvillea’s true flowers: small, trumpet-shaped blooms of white and yellow.

Bougainvillea can grow to 6 feet in one season. At least a third of the season’s growth should be cut away in early spring. At that time, over-long shoots should be spur-pruned (cut back to leave just 2-3 growth buds on each shoot). Usually bougainvillea loses leaves for a short period in winter.

Water the plant until liquid drips through the drainage hole, and then don’t water again until the potting mixture feels slightly dry. Allow the top 2 inches (5 cm) of soil to dry out between watering, empty drainage tray to prevent soggy soil, which can lead to root rot.

Sunlight. Bougainvillea One Head love the heat! They require at least six hours of full sunlight a day and can handle even the hottest of summers. If you want your plant to produce an abundance of flowers, make sure it’s sitting in direct sunlight.
